Eugene Arundel Miller grew up in Lexington, Nebraska, the youngest grandson of Arundel C. Hull, one of the early photographers along the route of the new transcontinental railroad. Miller's inheritance of Hull's historic photographs led to his research and subsequent publication of Railroad 1869, Along the Historic Union Pacific.
Similarly the author's inheritance of the family collection of letters sent home by his ancestors in three different wars triggered his research into the history of those eras. His current book, Soldiers Letters Home tells those stories.
After graduating from Colorado State University and Georgia Institute of Technology, Miller served in the post Korean War era first as a Navy Seabee, then Civil Engineer Corp officer. He lives and has practiced geotechnical engineering in the San Francisco Bay Area for forty-five years. His publications include four previously published historical non-fiction books and articles in various professional journals and magazines.
